The Reliant Rebel was first unveiled at the 1964 Motor Show at Earls Court in London. Designed by Ogle the Rebel was powered by Reliant’s 600cc alloy engine. Whilst this engine was the standard Regal 3-wheeler engine, changes had been made to the engine to increase its power from 21 to 27bhp. The engine was enlarged to 700cc (30bhp) in 1967 and again to 750cc (31bhp) in 1972. On the whole the Rebel used much of the running gear that was found in the Reliant Regal 3/25 with independent coil spring front suspension, plus rack and pinion steering from a Standard 10.

The body was made from fiberglass that was attached to a steel box section chassis. The Rebel came with two body types, the standard saloon and the larger estate.

Only 3,500 Rebels were produced before production ceased in 1974 when the Rebel was taken over by the Reliant Kitten.
